Learn To Play The Violin

Hi! I’m Johan, and I’m a violin teacher living in the Tri-Valley area of Northern California. I love working with open-minded students who are passionate about becoming the best they can be. If you are interested in lessons, please get in touch by email or phone.

Teaching Style

I approach my lessons in a fun, growth-oriented way, ensuring students feel understood but also challenged to grow and improve their skills. I have experience teaching students of all ages, though I typically work best with students over the age of 7 as my lessons involve thinking abstractly about concepts such as tone, style and rhythm. If you are interested in lessons with me, get in touch by email or phone at (925) 200-9026.

Methodology

For beginners, I use Suzuki and Essential Elements to develop a plant a mastery of the fundamentals. For intermediate students and above, I use a combination of technical books and increasingly advanced pieces to master technique and fundamentals. I have experience preparing students for music exams such as ABRSM, as well as for school, youth orchestra, and musical auditions.
